Objectives

To increase the shelf-life of fresh-cut fruit and vegetables without including synthetic additives or incorporating preservatives directly to the food that can cause changes in taste or texture.

Description

The project aims to create a new generation of food packaging materials that combine biodegradable and active properties, as well as natural extracts such as encapsulated garlic molecules that release their antioxidant, antimicrobial and antifungal properties in a controlled manner, when in contact with food items. The packaging obtained with this project can be rigid (trays) or flexible (film for bags), and in both cases, has three layers.
