Ecoembes Approval
The Ecoembes approval service enables recyclers and material recovery operators to access material allocations from packaging sorting plants.
Ecoembes approval is a key requirement for recyclers and material recovery operators to participate in material allocations from packaging sorting plants. Once approval is obtained, the facility is included in the official Ecoembes list, enabling access to the market for materials from the selective collection system.

What does the approval process involve?
The Ecoembes approval process includes the following stages:
- Technical visit and facility audit.
- Documentary verification.
- Industrial trial (for plastics): processing of material on-site.
- Measurement of actual annual treatment capacity across the different equipment to determine the total installation capacity.
Following the visit, AIMPLAS prepares the technical approval report and submits it simultaneously to the recovery/recycling operator and to Ecoembes.
If the result is compliant, the facility is approved for the evaluated materials, joining the official Ecoembes list and becoming eligible to participate in material allocations.
