Second DAFIA consortium meeting

The second meeting of the DAFIA project consortium was held at the BIOPOLIS premises in Valencia, Spain, the 22 June.

The objective of this project is to obtain new plastic materials and flame retardant additives from natural sources such as household waste and waste from the fishing industry.

At this second consortium meeting, the 15 project partners could talk, in person and in depth, about the progress made during the first six months of the project and plan in detail the steps to be taken in the next six months.

During this first stage of the project, the progress has been focused on the fractionation and characterization of the residues and obtaining added value monomers from them. During the next six months, work will continue on the improvement of the systems for obtaining these monomers and their purification in order to obtain new bioplastics and flame retardants in subsequent stages.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement nº 720770.
