Objectives:
Development of a textile sensor to detect deformations in structures based on polymeric nanofibres functionalised with carbon nanotubes (CNTs), in the shape of nanonet (“non-woven fabric” – bidimensional) and filament yarn (unidimensional) to be integrated in flexible and rigid substrates.
Description:
In this project, polymeric nanofibres doped with nanofillers were used, providing additional functionality to polymeric materials, such as electrical and thermal conductivity and piezoresistivity. There are unlimited applications for these new multifunction materials in the transport sector, yet one of the highlights is the development of neural networks for piezoresistive sensors to be applied in the characterisation of structural damage.
