PYROS
Research and development of sustainable composite materials with high fire resistance
Objectives
Development of sustainable composite materials with high fire resistance for technical applications in the public transport and construction markets. In this sense, it is important to highlight that in both sectors there is a wide range of materials that can be replaced with sustainable composites that have high fire resistance in order to improve their flame retardant and environmental performance.
Description
The project’s main lines of action are: 1) Research and development of sustainable thermoplastic matrix composites with high fire resistance. 2) Manufacturing of demonstrators out of the developed composites that can be used in the construction and public transport sectors. In these two sectors, there is a growing interest in the use of sustainable composite materials due to their excellent performance, lightness and in-service performance. Furthermore, it should be noted that the construction and public transport sectors have strict fire requirements. In this sense, the new materials to be developed within the project PYROS will comply with this aspect.
