Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ) | Université de Liège | Rijksuniversiteit Groningen | Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) | Universität Heidelberg (UHEI) | AIMPLAS | BASF | Total Energies | Corning | Polykey Polymers | Celabor SCRL | CO2 Value Europe
SDG

AIMPLAS is aligned in this project with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Objectives

D-CARBONIZE will create new biocarbon-based value chains in sustainable circular polymers and materials through innovative (de)polymerization catalytic strategies.

D-CARBONIZE will offer to recruited DCs the possibility to participate in a transversal, innovative training programme based on the principles of Innovative Doctoral Training, which will enable them to become creative, critical, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral researchers.

Description

D-CARBONIZE Project is a joint network of doctoral candidates (DCs) that aims to promote new approaches in circular chemistry to design and develop recyclable bioplastics from biomass.

CARBONIZE’s approach will target biocarbon recycling into valuable starting materials for the chemical/polymer industries and will primarily provide innovative low-carb catalysis solutions.

To do this, D-CARBONIZE will recruit 12 DCs (Doctoral Candidates) who will be able to defend a PhD thesis at the end of their individual projects (obtaining two PhD titles in two different universities/countries). Each PhD student will be hosted in two different host institutions (different countries) and will receive additional training by undergoing relevant secondments at the industrial partners’ facilities.
