Development of a biodegradable nanocomposite-based material to produce flexible tubes for cosmetic packaging.
The project’s challenge was developing a new biodegradable material and produce a packaging for cosmetic products that can replace the current packages obtained from polyolefins. It was complex, since the shelf life of beauty products is long, around two and a half years and due also to the requirements that packaging materials must have. Within the project, new bioplastics were developed, both for the packaging’s tubular structure and the cap manufactured by injection. The new packages were subject to validation through packaging with three different types of cosmetic products: the first has a C vitamin-active substance; the second a sun protection filter; and the last one is a multiple-protection facial cream manufactured from eco-friendly white tea.
