Circular Synergies: Recycled Materials Empowering Clean Energy

A joint AIMPLAS–ETRA workshop on plastics and rubber in renewable technologies
Valencia, Spain
12 December 2025
Free

Presentation

An international meeting point for innovation, collaboration and circular economy

This year’s edition will explore how recycled plastics and rubber can drive the clean energy transition and how renewable technologies can, in turn, power a more sustainable recycling industry. The workshop aims to connect the worlds of recycling and renewable energy, fostering win-to-win synergies between materials circularity and technologies such as photovoltaic panels, wind turbine blades and batteries.

The event will feature poster sessions where companies and research centres will present innovative ideas and potential R&D project concepts, followed by an interactive round-table discussion guided by key emerging topics identified by AIMPLAS and ETRA. The goal is to generate new collaborations and shape future European initiatives focused on the valorisation of recycled materials within the clean energy value chain.

This dynamic format will provide a platform for networking, ideation and project building a unique opportunity to discover new perspectives, foster partnerships and co-create the next generation of circular solutions.

Organizers

ETRA

ETRA is an independent, member-driven European Association open to those involved in the diverse activities that contribute to the tyre recycling industry. It originated from a project created in 1990 and funded in 1992 to unify the disparate elements of tyre recycling in Europe.

ETRA’s mission is to formalize tyre recycling as an independent, multi-sectoral industry engaged in a comprehensive chain of activities aimed at protecting the environment and enhancing quality of life through the creation of new businesses and jobs. This is achieved through focused advocacy and cooperative actions to improve professional standards and develop quality guidelines for products and materials. A key goal is to promote cost-effective, environmentally sound, and commercially viable tyre recycling activities.

ETRA closely collaborates with material and product developers and participates in a variety of EU and state-funded projects to explore and exploit new markets.

AIMPLAS

AIMPLAS has more than 30 years of experience in the plastics sector. The centre provides solutions to companies throughout the entire value chain, from raw material manufacturers to processors and end users.
