The project NOU-EXTRUSIÓ 2 will ensure the industrial processability of new materials

advanced materials

The industry of plastic finds itself in a continuous innovation and is constantly optimizing the properties of new materials and creating materials more sustainable. However, in order to introduce into the market new developments is important to guarantee their processability. nou-extrusiço

In order to achieve this aim, AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Center is carrying out the project NOU EXTRUSIÓ 2, supported by the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE), which developed an early assessment system for the processability of materials during the first year of the project. As a result, it has been possible to know the processing conditions of new formulations and obtain extruded films in continuous processing equipment from small quantities of material (250-300 grams) obtained by synthesis at the laboratory level. In this way, it is possible to distinguish which customized polymeric developments will be processable by the conventional extrusion technologies at the industrial level.

Recently approved by the IVACE with a grant of 181,349.96 euros and co-funded by the EU ERDF funds, within the Operational Program 2014-2020 of the Valencian Community, this second year of project will allow to continue working in tasks to obtain prototypes of the different case studies defined both at pilot plant and industrial level, including their subsequent validation.

Once the project is over, the transference and dissemination of results to the whole plastic industry have been foreseen, both to the companies that have collaborated in its performance and to the rest of the industries through public reports and deliverables.
