OKPLAST 2025 – V International Seminar on Plastics Legislation

Presentation

AIMPLAS is organizing the fifth edition of OKPLAST, its plastics and legislation forum, which will take place on 27 and 28 May 2025. The seminar aims to present the current situation, new developments and trends in legislation and regulations governing the plastics industry.
The plastics industry is facing what will probably be the biggest challenge in its history due to what has been called a tsunami of legislative documents that will regulate different aspects related to safety and sustainability. Specifically, some 10 or 12 new developments are expected, including directives and regulations on issues such as ecodesign and the digital product passport, greenwashing, microplastics, packaging and packaging waste in terms of aspects such as sustainability in companies, reporting, due diligence, taxonomy and industrial emissions. New legislation is expected on critical raw materials, food contact materials, the new quality amendment and the use of recycled plastic, limitations or bans on the use of certain substances (e.g. PFAS, BPA, phthalates) and new developments in the registration of the EU’s food and beverage industry. There will also be new developments in the registration of polymers established by REACH, not to mention the Global Green Deal sponsored by the UN, which will involve new challenges in the circular economy of plastics.
All this is expected to bring times of change, which will represent a challenge and an opportunity for the plastics industry; a challenge based on adapting to new demands and an opportunity to implement new developments that demonstrate all the virtues of this material while providing specific solutions in the fight against climate change and the protection of health and the environment.
At the upcoming edition of OKPLAST , we aim to help companies understand all the legal measures that affect them and how to apply and implement them with the help of the approximately 25 top international experts at AIMPLAS.

Trajectory
OKPLAST was created in 2016 as a technical seminar to offer companies an overview of the latest developments and trends in legislation for plastic materials in different sectors.
The growing interest in this event and the increasing legislation that companies must be aware of and apply led the organising committee to decide to extend the scope of OKPLAST for the third edition, turning it into an International seminar.
After four editions with a great reception from companies and professionals in the sector, it is now consolidated as a key event in plastics legislation.
