How we transfer technology
A structured process that takes technological assets from identification through to market deployment, in four clearly defined stages.
Technology Asset Identification
Identification of research outcomes with commercial potential, including advanced materials, innovative processes, software, and specialised know-how in plastics and composite materials.
Intellectual Property (IP) Protection
Management of intellectual and industrial property protection, including patents, utility models, trade secrets, and copyright.
Technology Validation and Maturation
We increase the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of innovations in our pilot plants and develop demonstrators under real market conditions in collaboration with industrial early adopters.
Commercialisation
Implementation of the most suitable technology transfer model, including licensing, technology access agreements, co-development partnerships, or the creation of technology-based companies (spin-offs).

AIMPLAS technologies already on the market
LOFITH COMPOSITES
LOFITH Composites is the first technology-based company created from AIMPLAS innovations, co-founded in 2024 with REDIT Ventures. The company specialises in sustainable long-fibre thermoplastic (LFT) composites for the automotive, aerospace and construction sectors.
FILI
FILI is a conductive TPU-based filament for 3D printing, developed entirely by AIMPLAS and commercialised through Filament2Print. It combines mechanical flexibility with electrical conductivity, enabling applications that are not possible with conventional polymers.

How can I find out whether an AIMPLAS technology is suitable for my company?
The first step is a free, no-obligation exploratory meeting. The AIMPLAS team will assess your challenge or area of interest and introduce the most relevant technologies from our portfolio. A meeting can usually be arranged within one week by completing the contact form at the bottom of this page.
What type of agreement is required to access a technology?
This depends on the collaboration model selected. For licensing, an intellectual property (IP) licence agreement is signed, which may include territorial or sector-specific exclusivity. For co-development projects, the agreement defines the joint ownership of the results. In all cases, the process begins with a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to protect the confidential information of both parties.
What funding opportunities are available for technology transfer projects?
A range of funding programmes is available, including CDTI (Technology Transfer Projects and Cervera calls), IVACE+i, Horizon Europe (EIC Transition and EIC Accelerator) and, for spin-offs, REDIT Ventures together with participating loans from IVF.
Can I create a company based on an AIMPLAS technology?
Yes. LOFITH Composites is the first technology-based company created from AIMPLAS research and innovation, co-founded with REDIT Ventures in 2024. AIMPLAS is currently supporting the creation of several additional start-ups. We provide support throughout the entire process, from business plan development to the successful completion of investment rounds.
Which technology areas does AIMPLAS specialise in?
Our expertise includes advanced recycling (mechanical, chemical and biotechnological), bio-based and biodegradable materials, high-performance composites, sustainable packaging, advanced manufacturing (3D printing, compounding and extrusion), plastics for agriculture and energy, and digital solutions for the plastics industry, including Digital Product Passports (DPP) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Yes. AIMPLAS regularly participates as a leading technology partner in Horizon Europe, LIFE, KIC (EIT Manufacturing and EIT Food), PERTE and CDTI projects. In 2024, AIMPLAS was involved in more than 97 active international projects.
