The University Expert on Plastic Recycling postgraduate course is a university-accredited qualification of the Universitat de València created to respond to new market needs.

The European Union is sponsoring the transition towards the circular economy that promotes global competitiveness, sustainable economic growth and job creation. In this context, recycling has become a key industry for both the environment and industry.

Companies must adapt to the industry’s constant changes and growing environmental and quality requirements. The goal of the course is to train students to become specialists who are fully prepared to work in the recycling industry and face the challenges and opportunities it has to offer.

  • To provide students with the knowledge they need to address the new challenges of the circular economy in the context of plastic waste recycling.
  • To give students an overview of the plastics industry and the characteristics of plastic waste recovered using mechanical and chemical recycling, with a special focus on the features of the materials and substances obtained in order to comply with the regulations and specifications for their use in the industry of application.
  • To apply the knowledge acquired in extracurricular volunteer internships at companies mainly in the plastics industry, as well as companies engaged in waste management, recycling and manufacture of plastic materials.

Who Is It Aimed At?

  • Upper- and mid-level graduates in science and engineering.
  • Employees of private industrial, commercial or services companies (with more than three years of proven professional experience in the plastics industry).


  • The UNIVERSITY EXPERT ON PLASTIC RECYCLING course is divided into three blocks. The curriculum includes 13 ECTS credits distributed in 130 face-to-face class hours.
