The University Expert on Bioplastics and Biocomposites postgraduate course is a university-accredited qualification of the Universitat de València created to respond to new market needs.

The European Union is sponsoring a new, competitive, low-carbon model of sustainable growth that makes efficient use of resources.

The plastics industry forms part of this socially responsible European framework committed to the circular economy. It bears considerable responsibility and has a great deal to offer society. Biotechnology is faced with the challenge of discovering processes to make products with more added value than current products while applying criteria of sustainability. Companies in the plastics industry need specialists to address these new challenges and social and environmental demands.

Goals

  • To provide students with the knowledge they need to address the new challenges of bioplastics and biocomposites within the framework of the circular economy in the plastics industry.
  • To offer an overview of bioplastics and biocomposites, including classification, the process of obtaining and formulating them, degradation mechanisms, new trends, characterization, the manufacturing process and applications.
  • To apply the knowledge acquired in extracurricular volunteer internships at companies mainly in the plastics industry, as well as companies engaged in recycling, recovery and reuse of polymeric materials.

Who Is It Aimed At?

  • Upper- and mid-level graduates in science and engineering.
  • Employees of private industrial, commercial or services companies (with more than three years of proven professional experience in the plastics industry).

  • The UNIVERSITY EXPERT ON BIOPLASTICS AND BIOCOMPOSITES course is divided into three blocks. The curriculum includes 13 ECTS credits distributed in 130 face-to-face class hours.
