Synthesis of multifunctional microcapsules with high mechanical and thermal resistance for different applications
Objectives
To develop high added-value multifunctional materials both for the footwear and food packaging industries as well as for ingredients that can be applied in foodstuffs that can withstand the demanding processing and manufacturing conditions of these industries.
Description
The project aims to work on the encapsulation of scents with antimicrobial and insect-repellent properties, the use of inorganic and organic covers to provide thermal and mechanical resistance, improvements in different synthesis technologies, the development of methodologies to incorporate these microcapsules into different materials ensuring fixation and durability. In addition, this project will also demonstrate the antibacterial functionality of synthesised nanomaterials and micromaterials and aims to validate these microcapsules in extrusion processes in the plastics, foodstuff and footwear manufacturing industries.
