SDG

AIMPLAS is aligned in this project with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Objectives

SusValEn aims to valorise bio-wastes from the wood processing and manufacturing industries to produce sustainable biogas, H2, biochar and biomethanol by optimising transformation technologies and developing a flexible and energy-efficient integrated concept.

Description

Within the SusValEn concept, multidisciplinary technologies and methodologies applied to different wood wastes will be explored:

  • Anaerobic digestion (AD) of wastewater and pre-treated solid sludge will yield biomethane.
  • Catalytic reforming/gasification of this waste and the biogas produced will allow to produce high-purity hydrogen.
  • Biochar production in a pyrolysis plant from lignocellulosic waste.
  • Efficient regeneration of the captured CO2 in the reforming process will yield a pure CO2 stream for its hydrogenation into biomethanol.
