R&D Projects
Objectives:
This project promotes the definition and development of a battery recharging and replacement station for light mobility. Specifically, it is a system that enables the rapid exchange of batteries recharged with solar energy and predicts energy consumption thanks to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, as well as the creation of an innovative intelligent energy management platform that eliminates the risks of electromagnetic interference and improves safety.
Description:
Sustainable mobility is a strategic priority at local, national, European, and global levels. From this perspective, SMART5G project proposes new technologies to promote a sustainable, connected, safe and smart mobility applied to individual and delivery vehicles which will allow the reduction of CO2 emissions. The project proposes an innovative sustainable structural battery housing for light automobiles based on a reusable and recyclable thermoplastic long fibre compound with dual functionalities: flame-retardant additives and electromagnetic shielding (EMI) particles. This new solution increases the driving range of the vehicle by reducing its weight compared to the metallic, usual housings. In this way, less energy will be needed for the same displacement reducing energy cost and carbon footprint.
The project with reference PLEC2021-007994 has been funded by MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/ PRTR.
