Objectives:

The project aim is to develop and implement a product portfolio suitable for tissue regeneration in the maxillofacial area with less surgical operation of the medium.

Description:

The reconstruction of large tissue defects is one of the main challenges facing modern maxillofacial surgery. Currently, the possible treatments are incomplete or can only act on certain stages of the regeneration process, which entails expensive surgical treatments and associated health risks. In this sense, allogenic bone grafts are appropriate to the extent of the simplest defects, but it has still several drawbacks, such as the cost, the limited mechanical properties and the risk of disease transmission. In tissue engineering, an alternative technique to repair and to restore the bone tissue has emerged. Within the field of tissue engineering, in recent years are arising the so-called third generation biomaterials for which, in addition to its structural function, prevail its interaction with the biological tissue.
