01.
Plastics and the bioeconomy

In this introductory session, we will explore how biotechnology is opening new possibilities in the plastics sector for the creation of more sustainable materials. Industry experts will share how research is driving the development of bioplastics from renewable sources, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and promoting a circular economy.

02.
Bioplastics production from waste

Innovations in fermentation techniques used in the production of bioplastics from organic waste will be addressed. Biotechnological processes enable the extraction of high-value monomers, transforming waste into resources for the plastics industry.

03.
Downstream processes in bioplastics production

Key processes in the purification of monomers and their polymerization for the creation of bioplastics will be explored. The most advanced techniques for optimizing the quality of final materials, enhancing their properties and performance, will be analyzed, along with how these processes contribute to the development of more competitive and sustainable solutions.

04.
Enzymatic recycling

The opportunities and challenges associated with enzymatic depolymerization of plastics will be explored, offering a more environmentally friendly alternative for rec

05.
Enhancing the biodegradability of plastics

Advances in the compostability and biodegradation of bioplastics will be analyzed. Current methods to ensure efficient decomposition of plastics will be examined, minimizing their environmental impact and promoting their integration into a more sustainable lifecycle.

06.
Techno-economic and enviromental aspects

The costs, opportunities, and challenges in the implementation of biotechnological solutions for a more sustainable future will be analyzed, considering their economic viability and the positive environmental impact.
