SIMAP 2026 – I International Seminar on Advanced Plastic Materials
Presentation
High-performance materials are playing a key role in transforming strategic sectors such as aerospace, defense, automotive, transport, shipbuilding, electronics, construction, and energy. The need for lighter, stronger, more functional, and more sustainable solutions is driving intense R&D activity, where collaboration across all links of the value chain is essential to accelerate transfer to the market.
The International Seminar on Advanced Plastic Materials was created as a meeting point for companies, technology centers, and innovation stakeholders to share real industrial challenges, recent technological developments, and emerging research lines. Throughout the event, high-performance materials and processes, dual-use technologies, functional solutions, and sustainability strategies applied to advanced products and systems will be addressed.
The seminar will combine technical presentations, poster sessions, and a networking space to foster knowledge exchange, create synergies, and identify collaboration opportunities in national and international R&D projects.

Programme
Topics
This session will cover the latest developments in structural composite materials, from traditional solutions to high-performance composites. New formats, reinforcement architectures, and polymer matrices will be analyzed, as well as their behavior under demanding service conditions. The presentations will combine real industrial needs with R&D advances aimed at improving performance, durability, and efficiency in strategic sectors.
The session will focus on materials and composites with advanced functionalities beyond structural performance. Solutions featuring conductive properties, fire resistance, and radar and electromagnetic signature reduction capabilities will be presented. The goal is to demonstrate how these materials meet critical requirements in dual-use applications, as well as the technological challenges associated with their design, manufacturing, and characterization.
This session will explore advanced manufacturing technologies applied to high-performance materials, including additive manufacturing, automated processes, and hybrid solutions. Challenges related to industrialization, scaling, and quality control will be addressed, with a focus on the effective transfer of R&D developments to production environments. The presentations will showcase real-world implementation experiences in demanding industrial settings.
The session will examine the role of advanced materials in the transition toward a circular economy model. It will cover recycling strategies, the use of sustainable materials, and the reduction of environmental impact, as well as challenges related to Critical Raw Materials (CRM). The presentations will highlight technological solutions and R&D approaches that help reduce dependencies and enhance circularity in strategic sectors.
This session will focus on key materials and systems for energy applications and dual-use technologies. Solutions for energy storage, hydrogen, batteries, and sustainable fuels will be addressed, highlighting the role of advanced materials in enhancing performance, safety, and efficiency. The presentations will combine industrial perspectives with technological developments applicable to both civilian and defense environments.
