The consortium of the project URBANREC, coordinated by AIMPLAS, is going to hold the 1st Technical Workshop and Networking Event on 23 February.

During the technical workshop the first results will be presented regarding Fiber Reinforced Composites from recycled textile and plastic urban waste. Parallel to this, in the networking event some waste management instruments contributing to reduce bulky waste in Flanders will be presented.

A sandwich lunch will offer you the opportunity to meet the project partners and to further exchange ideas.

Since June 2016, 21 partners (local authorities, companies, an NGO and research centers) have been working together in the European research project URBANREC (New approaches for the valorization of URBAN bulky waste into high added value RECycled products). This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the Grant Agreement No 690103.

Currently, too few materials and raw materials are recycled from the bulky waste stream. In the project an eco-innovative and integral bulky waste management system will be implemented and will demonstrate its effectiveness in various EU regions: by enhancing prevention and reuse, improving logistics and allowing new waste treatments to obtain high added value recycled products. The project focusses mainly on foam, textile, plastic and wood. The results of the project will also help to outline the European framework for the management of bulky waste.

Attendance is free and you can register here. The deadline to confirm attendance is 16 February.
