AIMPLAS obtains recognition for its biodegradation and compostability tests in Australia and Japan through ABA and JBPA

biodegradabilidad y compostaje

AIMPLAS has obtained recognition to carry out biodegradation and compostability tests from the Australian organisation ABA and the Japanese organisation JBPA. These two recognitions will enable companies to obtain the corresponding ecolabels for their products and facilitate their access to both markets.

Specifically, ABA has recognised the capability of AIMPLAS laboratories to carry out the tests corresponding to the soil biodegradation scheme and compostability in accordance with DIN CERTCO standards. For its part, JBPA has recognised the compost and soil biodegradation tests, laboratory- and pilot-scale disintegration tests, and ecotoxicity tests in higher plants.

In this way, the AIMPLAS Biodegradation and Compostability Laboratory continues to expand the scope of its accredited testing, adding to the recognitions obtained last year from DIN CERTCO and BPI for the European and North American markets, respectively. Likewise, AIMPLAS has recognition to carry out tests in accordance with the EN 13432 standard, allowing certification bodies to issue ecolabels certifying that a product is biodegradable or compostable in different environments (industrial composting, home composting or soil biodegradation) without adverse effects on the environment.

In this way, AIMPLAS provides key added value to companies in the plastics sector, helping them to adapt their products to growing market demands and to comply with new regulations oriented towards circularity. Through these tests and certifications, companies can reliably demonstrate the environmental performance of their products, enhance their international competitiveness and move towards more sustainable production models aligned with the circular economy.
