REACH regulation: new substances of high concern proposed

Five of the Member States of the European Union (France, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden) have displayed their intention of including the following six substances in the list of “Candidate substances of very high concern to authorization”, since they are considered high concern substances (SVHC, Substance of Very High Concern).

  • 4,4’-isopropylidenediphenol (bisphenol A; BPA) (nº CAS 80-05-7)  
  • 4-tert-butylphenol (nº CAS 98-54-4)
  • Benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid 1,2-anhydride (trimellitic anhydride; TMA) (nº CAS 552-30-7)
  • Nonadecafluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) and its sodium and ammonium salts (nº CAS 335-76-2, 3830-45-3 , 3108-42-7)
  • p-(1,1-dimethylpropyl)phenol (nº CAS 80-46-6)
  • 4-Heptylphenol, branched and linear

These substances will be included in the “Candidate substances to authorization”, according to REACH regulation, which will be published in the next days.
