The 33rd edition of AMI Masterbatch took place on the 11th and 12th of May in Frankfurt. 150 representatives from all stages of the supply chain attended the event, which lasted two days and was packed with 24 interesting presentations on sustainability. Nowadays, many people suffer from eco-anxiety and are eager to reduce their impact on the environment. Using and improving recycled plastic, using additives from renewable sources, improving the compounding process, and working on issues related to food contact packaging can all help to reduce environmental impact.
The event was attended by major industry players such as Borealis, Sabic, Dow, MERCK, CRODA, AMPACET, CABOT, EVONIK, ferro-nubiola, Unnox group, etc. Ferro-nubiolo and Unnox also sponsored the event. Luis Roca, Compounding leader at AIMPLAS delivered a presentation on behalf of the company on the colouring capacity of black carbon recovered through pyrolysis. Luis explained the details of using this type of additive and how its dispersion can be optimised to be incorporated into films and injected parts. The presentation was well-received. It explained that commercial black carbon masterbatches and the masterbatches developed by AIMPLAS were found to have a very similar colouring capacity. This indicates a notable dispersion where DELTA E values fall below 0.5 for injected polypropylene parts and below 0.6 for low-density polyethylene films, meaning they could be used in similar applications.
This event is the international meeting place for senior managers and decision-makers in the masterbatch industry, offering industry experts an opportunity to share their views and discuss the latest developments and trends within the sector with peers. AMI’s Masterbatch event incorporates three days of networking and industry insight attracting delegates from across the globe, including leading masterbatch producers and their clients.
